October Fun So Far

We love Halloween in Tarrytown! We rang in the season with the community's longest and most treasured tradition.....SCARECROW MAKING! About 100 families participated in this year's event, DESPITE the rain.

Halloween Window Painting occurred next and took off without a hitch, with over 60 windows painted. Many smiles and colors everywhere!

The scarecrows and window paintings look incredibly terrifying, creative & cute! If you are looking for them, they are all over Broadway and Main Street.

A SPECIAL thank you to all who participated in making this year's Scarecrow Making and Halloween Window Painting a beautiful success! All of the wonderful scarecrows and paintings add to the charm and high energy of Tarrytown.

Another THANK YOU to the Parks Department for decorating Broadway and Main Street with all of the spooky scarecrows and to the volunteers that helped the event run smoothly.

And a HUGE thank you to all of the businesses that gave us permission to use their windows for window painting.

Trunk or Treat & Movie Night

TONIGHT: Friday, October 27th

Trunk or Treat 4:30-6:30 PM Movie begins at dark

Start your Halloween celebration early this year by joining us at Pierson Park on Friday, October 27th. Break out the kids' costumes and have them bring their candy bags for Trunk or Treat, then stick around to munch on your candy while you watch a spooky Halloween movie outdoors on the big screen!

The spells have been cast! This year's Halloween movie is Disney's "Hocus Pocus." Winifred, Binx & friends will be gracing us on the movie screen.

We can happily say that our community is very supportive. We have a number of volunteers that registered to participate in this year's Trunk or Treat.

The best decorated vehicle will receive a prize.

To Our Sponsors

Every year, we like to expand and sophisticate our programs & events. Recreation can most graciously say that a few star businesses shared in those values and helped SPONSOR Trunk or Treat.

Halloween Parade

We are on the eve of the event you've all been waiting for... The 21st Annual Village of Tarrytown Halloween Parade kicks off tomorrow night, Saturday, October 28th at 5:30 PM.

Including Bands, Floats, Groups, and Individuals, we are expecting almost 100 different participating entities to be marching this year! Don't miss what is sure to be one of the most memorable nights of the year.

After the parade, be sure to stick around Main Street for live music and our annual Block Party!

Be sure to get to your viewing spot on Broadway or Main Street early as we expect a large crowd. Main Street will be closed at 3 PM, with Broadway to follow. Due to road closures and limited parking around the Village, it is recommended that spectators walk or take public transit to attend the parade, if possible.

Billie's Report

I have been greeting admirers since early September. I am quite the looker and receive a lot of attention. Have you found my friends Enchantra Spells & Eddie Bones yet? Enchantra has a few witchy qualities. Eddie is looking rather thin these days; he's on Bone Watchers. The Halloween Parade may give way to their hiding spots.

Take a pic, pose with my friends and post on Facebook or Instagram. Be sure to tag the Tarrytown Recreation Department in your post!

Also, you have a FEW DAYS left to take the opportunity to register for TURKEY TROT at the lowest rate! The price will increase on November 1st. Eat all of your Halloween candy before November 18th so that you can run it off on November 19th. I would run, but my hay will fall out and I can't seem to find my sneakers.
