Pierson Park Updated - August 1, 2012
PIERSON PARK REHABILITATION AND ANDRE BROOK RESTORATION
PROJECT UPDATE – August 1, 2012

The demolition in Pierson Park has been completed and grading of the site has commenced.  Fill from other projects throughout the Village, including various water improvement projects are being moved from the site previously known as the Fire Training Center, where the fill was stored, to the park.  It was originally the intent for the contractor to begin work on the Andre Brook Restoration project, which includes the removal of the concrete slabs along the shore of the brook as well as the removal of some of the land adjacent to the brook to create a wetland; however, due to a timing issue in regards to receipt of the permit to work in the water from the US Army Corps of Engineers, work will begin on the new tennis courts and basketball court.  The tennis courts and basketball court will be constructed in the commuter parking lot on Green Street, between West Main Street and the Tarrytown Boat Club.  The courts will be constructed on the south portion of the parking lot.

In order to accomplish this work, that portion of the parking lot will be taken out of service on Friday, August 3.  Parking is available in the commuter parking lot on West Main Street.  In addition, the Village is in the process of completing a new commuter parking lot on Green Street.  It is anticipated that this new parking lot should be available at the beginning of September.

The contractor will also be working on the additional parking to service the new kayak launch on the south side of Losee Park.
